We here at Bayoucitybengls believe that our cats health is first and foremost in our goal to improve the Bengal breed. HCM screening and PK def testing are done here on a regular basis.
HCM screening was done on my adult queen, Pettypoo Gltrbel of Bayoucitybengls, and my adult king, Lileopard Arctic Cat of Bayoucitybengls on November 7, 2015. Testing was done at Bay Area Vet Specialists with Dr. Kyle Brayley, DVM, Cardiologist. Both cats have normal test results! Simba has been tested for HCM and was cleared in 2013. He has also been tested for PK def by VGL UC Davis, as was Gltrbel, and found to be negative as well. Any kittens produced from Simba X Gltrbel will be PK def negative via parentage (pedigree).Recommended re-screening .by Dr Kyle Brayley for both cats was for 2 years. They will be screened again for HCM at that time.
Here at Bayoucitybengls, we are primarily raw/whole killed prey feeders. We also feed a very high quality dry kibble to ensure our kittens and cats are well rounded and easily transition to new homes that are only willing to feed dry kibble. If you would like more information on feeding raw, or raising your own whole prey, please feel free to ask me and I will teach you everything I know. We here at Bayoucitybengls believe that you are what you eat. I strive to maintain the highest level of health for my Bengals, and I will always advocate for the cats, and encourage you to feed a diet fit for a cat. Cats being obligate carnivores, then I advocate for whole prey and raw feeding as a staple for you cats as well!
